Two more open water divers

For their birthdays, Victor and Felix had an Open Water diving course. They started with a pool session on Monday and then had their sea dives at Tweed Heads. We all went there (1h ½ south of Brisbane) for 2 days of sea and fun. They had a very entertaining and dynamic instructor who was just perfect.

The sea conditions were not the best especially for the first 2 dives as it was quite windy, so the vis was only 2 meters, making their dives challenging. The 2^nd day was less windy and they both ended with a big smile and a new dive certificate – which off course makes their dad really happy and proud too!

 

Between dives we even went bowling!

When climbing cliffs are so close

The Kangaroo Cliffs, just 5min away, are a perfect way for our climbing crew to train outdoor. Usually this happens Sunday morning before the rocks become to hot. 

Walk in the bush

Felix started his holidays with a 16km walk through the bush, carrying his full pack (food, tent, sleeping bag etc) … that unfortunatelly got drenched even before he started (thanks to a leaky water bottle).

Thankfully, the sun was out, drying everything quickly. HOwever he then had to boil some water from the lake to have enough to drink. This walk was quite steep and proved quickly that his walking shoes were sadly too small. He came back with few blisters but happy to have ticked the most adventurous requirement of his Duke of Edinburgh project - which for a well trained scout wasn't so hard!

After dropping Felix on Saturday, the rest of us also went for a hike, less challenging but with great views. Just perfect to start these schools holidays.

With Victor we dreamt of more callenging hikes we could soon do!

Copy time :(

The end of the 3^rd term is approaching fast, which means tests and assignments for the students and marking for the teachers. I finished few days ago my 1^st lot of 110 copies. I should have a quiet week end before starting again (150 copies) in a couple of days.

Our furry visitor wasn’t much help but a nice distraction.

Ca croustille et ca fait des miettes

Depuis un mois un second boulanger s’est installe a la marina et au grand Bonheur de tous, il est francais et fait du pain francais. Nous avons donc servi de cobayes avant l'ouverture de la boulangerie, a gouter baguettes crouistillantes mais tendre a l'interieur, pain au levain et bons croissants feuilletes qui se laissent "eplucher" doucement.

..il ne manque plus que du bon fromage!
